The Treasurer’s Office of the City of Wilmington is an independently elected office of the City’s Executive Branch and is comprised of an Administrative and Pension division and is responsible for safeguarding the City’s financial resources for all of the City’s governmental, fiduciary and business-type activities. The treasury management system involves managing City investments and disbursements, including the redemption of City bonds (City Charter § 6-202), in addition to working with City Council to fulfill and coordinate the City’s financing needs. The Treasurer also administers the City’s pension benefits and serves as the Treasurer of certain component unit organizations of the City.
