Questions:

Q: What motivates you to seek or continue in this office?
A: As a lifelong Kent County resident, I am motivated to run for Register of Wills by my deep commitment to serving our community, ensuring that all families, especially those from marginalized communities, have access to the guidance and support they need as the handling of wills and estates is complex and can be very overwhelming. Having a wife and two children, I understand the importance of family and what it means to want to protect your loved ones, especially in times of loss. If elected, I pledge to create a more accessible and compassionate office where technology is leveraged and processes are streamlined to ensure that residents have equitable access to clear, accurate information.

Q: What are your qualifications for office? Can you provide examples of past experiences or accomplishments that demonstrate your ability to effectively lead and collaborate with others in a governmental setting?
A: My qualifications for Kent County Register of Wills stem from years of community service as I’ve had the opportunity to lead community engagement efforts, working directly with local leaders and residents, to address the most pressing issues residents face. My work with the Democratic Party has provided me with invaluable experience in understanding resident needs and concerns and has given me insight into how local government works and the importance of transparency and accountability. My leadership and community service experience, combined with my dedication to Kent County residents, makes me well-prepared to step into this role and continue working for the betterment of our community.

Q: What are the most important ways that this county office serves the public? Please highlight any aspect(s) of your services of which residents should be made more aware.
A: The Kent County Register of Wills serves the public by maintaining public records of wills and estates, ensuring that wills are filed properly, overseeing the probate process, ensuring that estates are administered according to the law, and the wishes of the deceased are carried out according to their wills. Residents should be more aware of the importance of filing wills promptly and the office’s role in resolving estate disputes. If elected, I pledge to host events that educate residents on the full range of services this office provides, particularly when it comes to navigating the probate process and managing estates without a will to avoid future legal complications.
